I Purchased this guitar in 1988 from a Nashville, TN, store. The guitar is in excellent condition for its age (50 Years), plays well, intonation is great and so is the sound. This is an Original Martin 1971 D-41 that has had repairs. I have used this guitar exclusively from 1988 until 2000 when I started switching between this D-41 and a guitar I purchased.
Here is a sample of the D-41 from a 2000 recording.

Noteworthy comments

When I bought the guitar the finish on the back of the neck was worn off from the nut to almost the 12th fret. Which is the main reason I bought the guitar even though it was in need of many repairs. Why? Because whomever played the guitar had to be good and played it a lot which means the guitar had to be good. ?? It was just in dire need of TLC. The top was refinished to sunburst in the Spring of 2020. I had the sunburst done so it would look like my Pre-War guitar. All the rest of the guitar is original finish which I think I mentioned in the video. Some repairs that I had done immediately after purchase during the late 80's
End pin was pushed in
Some top braces were loose
Neck was set in crooked
Fretboard had some divots
Bridge was too low
One Neck inlay cracked
Small piece of abalone cracked (I think)
Gold tuners finish worn

Early 90's

Rather than replace the top due to the wood missing underneath the bridge I had a piece of "old" Martin Sitka spliced into the top. Like Martin adds as part of the back of D-35's with the center piece. The work has not budged at all since then and it made the top much stronger and actual noticeably improved the sound.
Here is a sample from 2000 of the guitar
